September 8-10 - Seattle Symphony Beethoven & Wine - Sample some of the best regional wines at a pre-concert tasting. September 13 - 11th Sister City Jazz Day with Geila Zilkha - The Pacific Jazz Institute at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley along with the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association, the Kobe Trade Information Office and Shinkaichi Music Street is pleased to present Kobe, Japan's 2010 Vocal Jazz Queen, Geila Zilkha for one night only. Now-October 17 - Bellwether 2010: Art Walk Bellevue - Visit this unique display of art, one of the Puget Sound's premier art events downtown Bellevue. This Introduces residents to the idea of public art installed along a route from City Hall to Meydenbauer Bay. The Bellevue Arts Commission gave the exhibition a new name: "Bellwether 2010: Art Walk Bellevue." For Bellwether 2010, 26 art works, indoors and out, will be on view at Bellevue City Hall, and nine will be displayed in Bellevue Downtown Park. Along the art walk route there will be two installations, one at Bellevue Galleria and the other in the old Safeway parking lot at 500 Bellevue Way NE. Sculptures are from across the U.S., Australia and South Korea. Most are by Northwest artists. More information can be found here.
August 15-October 31 - Argosy Brunch Cruises - Join KWJZ and Argosy Cruises for a great Jazz Cruise series featuring some of Seattle's most prominent Jazz Musicians. These cruises feature live music in an intimate atmosphere, a 2-hour cruise of Elliott Bay, champagne greeting and a fantastic brunch buffet all on the Royal Argosy departing from Pier 56 on the Seattle waterfront. September 8-October 3 - Federal Way Sand Sculpting - Master sand sculptors from across the globe will be gathering to compete as solo artists, doubles and teams for the grand prize of World Master Sand Sculptor in each category. Each will breathe their talent and culture into a pile of sand, transforming it into a work of intricate, temporary art. You´ll see a competition where the contestants must have the physical ability of an athlete and the precision of a surgeon. September 10 - Leonard The Goldfish - For the past three years Leonard the Goldfish has been begging to be let in to the Aquarium. Aquarium staff just didn't believe that a goldfish was cool enough to warrant a place in the Aquarium. However, the Aquarium Marketing Director decided to give Leonard a chance to prove that people wanted to see him in the Aquarium. So Leonard was challenged to garner 30,000 votes to gain a place in the Aquarium, and then an additional 15,000 votes to have a place in the Puget Sound Great Hall, and become the official "greeter" at the Aquarium. Leonard will be on display at the Seattle Aquarium Friday, September 10, 2010. In celebration of his victory, Leonard is buying a cup of coffee (or hot chocolate for the kids) for the first 100 people who come to see him on September 10. Aquarium hours: 9:30am-5pm. September 25 - Poverty Bay Blues and Brews Fest - The Des Moines Rotary Club invites you to attend the Poverty Bay Blues and Brews Fest Saturday, September 25th 12-7pm. 100% of the net proceeds will support the Music4Life program expanding music to youth in our local schools. Enjoy a day filled with local blues from Dudley Taft, Becki Sue and her Big Rockin' Daddies, the Cold Shot Band, the Stacy Jones Band and Rod Cook together with a variety of fine brews from 10-15 local breweries. The Des Moines Rotary Club will be barbecuing Bratwurst and B&E Market's famous Tri Tip for your dining enjoyment. October 8-10 - Oktoberfest Northwest - The 2010 Oktoberfest Northwest, scheduled October 8, 9 and 10 at the Puyallup Fairgrounds, will celebrate all things German in its sixth year with a Munich-inspired Festhalle Biergarten, traditional German foods and fun games for all ages. Festivals Inc., a special events production company in Issaquah, Wash., produces the Bite of Seattle® and the Taste of Tacoma® and Oktoberfest Northwest. October 10 - SIFF Dinner and a Movie - This distinctive event features special menus to be designed by local filmmakers and award-winning Volterra Chef Don Curtiss. With just forty-five seats available for each installment, patrons will be treated to an intimate celebration of local filmmaking and award-winning cuisine. In an effort to make these special events accessible to a larger audience of film and food enthusiasts, the 2010 season ticket price is just $60 per person. Films are shown on the state-of-the-art AV system that was installed at Volterra's Drawing Room specifically for this project. October 30 - Antique Quest & Wine Fest - The 4th Annual Antique Quest and Wine Fest on Saturday, October 30th is a fundraiser which benefits Tacoma Community House (TCH), a local nonprofit organization. TCH is celebrating its 100th year of service in 2010 and this event is an opportunity to celebrate and honor TCH's remarkable history. September 14-19 - Burn The Floor - The style danced in BURN THE FLOOR is called "international style" and has been danced in competition since 1920. International style ballroom dance consists of ten dances, split into five Latin American dances and five ballroom dances (standard).
